Course 11397-26 - 1 PDH - Building Referral Networks and Professional Relationships

  • 30 Days

Course Description

A survey firm's referral network, the web of attorneys, lenders, title companies, engineers, contractors, real estate professionals, and fellow surveyors who send business a firm's way and receive it in return, represents one of the most valuable and most frequently underdeveloped assets a practice holds. Many surveyors build a handful of strong referral relationships early in a career largely by accident, through whoever happened to be nearby or easy to work with, and then never revisit or deliberately expand that network again. This course examines the deliberate building and sustaining of professional relationships and referral networks as a distinct skill, separate from the broader marketing and business development practices addressed in an earlier course in this series, covering how to identify which relationship categories matter most for a given practice, how to approach relationship building with genuine reciprocity rather than a purely transactional mindset, how to maintain and deepen relationships over the course of a career, and how to organize and sustain a referral network as an ongoing professional practice rather than a one time effort. The course is intended for surveyors at any career stage who want to build a more intentional, more resilient network of professional relationships.
