Course 51111 - 3 PDH - Georgia Minimum Technical Standards for Property Surveyors

  • 30 Days

Course Description

This course provides a detailed, citation heavy examination of the minimum technical standards that govern property surveys in the State of Georgia, as established by Department 180 of the Georgia Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Board. Unlike a general survey ethics or practice course, this course is built specifically around Georgia Administrative Code Chapter 180-7, Technical Standards for Property Surveys, along with the closely related Chapter 180-6 Rules of Professional Conduct, the Georgia Plat Act at O.C.G.A. Section 15-6-67, and the underlying licensing statute at O.C.G.A. Title 43, Chapter 15. Participants will work through the regulatory framework and authority behind these standards, the horizontal accuracy and positional tolerance requirements and monumentation rules that govern boundary work, the vertical and topographic measurement standards that apply to elevation data and emerging technology such as GPS and unmanned aerial systems, the detailed content and certification requirements for maps and plats, and the compliance and enforcement framework that gives these standards their practical weight. Because Rule 180-11-.03 requires every Georgia land surveyor to complete at least three Professional Development Hours of Minimum Technical Standards coursework, covering a review of Board rules and applicable state laws specific to Georgia, once every two years as a condition of license renewal, this course is built to satisfy that specific requirement directly. A full appendix reproducing the text of Georgia Administrative Code Department 180 is included at the end of the course for ongoing reference.
